We are honoured to be able to support the inspirational university students at Ignite Mentoring as a Partner. Ignite Mentoring was established by UWA law student Ilona Quahe to tackle educational inequality amongst Perth high school students. It aims to address this inequality by offering innovative mentoring programmes to students from low socio economic backgrounds. The main part of the program is run in the high schools, where the Ignite Mentoring volunteers, all university students, visit students once a week to run mentoring activities. Once a semester Ignite mentors also host high school students for a day at UWA. The goal is to inspire in them an enthusiasm for learning and to nurture a confidence in their ability to succeed and to continue with their education after school.
Ignite Mentoring dreams of a world where all young people have equal educational opportunity and are empowered to reach their potential.
McGuinnLegal’s initial support will allow Ignite Mentoring to access advice and space as a co-working member of the BloomLab, an innovation space at St Catherine’s College UWA which is designed to support student enterprise.
