Draft Community Benefit Guideline for Renewable Energy Projects in WA

The State Government is seeking public feedback on a Consultation Paper, Draft Guideline on Community Benefits for Renewable Energy Projects (Guideline), released by PoweringWA.

PoweringWA is the body established by the State Government to coordinate the delivery of the new electricity infrastructure needed to decarbonise the State’s main electricity grid, the South West Interconnected System (SWIS).

The Guideline outlines parameters for negotiating Community Benefit Agreements with communities that host renewable energy projects. It is designed to support shared outcomes for regional communities, ensuring they benefit from the development of renewable energy projects through opportunities like local employment, local business participation in supply chains, and infrastructure investment. It is designed for use in large-scale, grid-connected renewable energy generation and storage projects, especially in the SWIS.

The consultation period is open until 18 August 2025.
